JDP Return to School Update (October 2, 2020)

The Jefferson Davis Parish School System is currently working on a district wide Phase III plan to begin the return of 6-8th grade students beginning October 19, 2020 (the beginning of the second 9 weeks grading period) to 5 days a week, face-to-face instruction.

It is our strong desire to return all students immediately to face- to-face 5 days a week instruction but simply cannot and remain compliant with capacity and distance directives provided by the Governor of the state of Louisiana, LDOE, BESE, and the Fire Marshal's office.

Any toggling back to Phase II or transitioning into Phase IV by the governor would, however, change the parameters of our current plan. There is also pressure in the political arena to return the state to a phase that is more normal. These actions, if successful, could also initiate the need for an immediate and welcomed change in our plan.

We will release more details of the plan and how we will roll it out in the coming days.

Wash your hands, wear a mask, socially distance, and be safe.
