Jefferson Davis Parish School Closure Update
Message from Superintendent, Kirk Credeur
March 25, 2020
I hope everyone is doing well and keeping those most vulnerable safe at this time. We are about 25 days away from returning to school, and I can't wait for this unprecedented event to come to a conclusion. Yesterday, the governor, with numerous department heads from a variety of state agencies, provided really great information on an LPB broadcast about the state of the union as well as numerous resources. Please check out that broadcast on the LPB website as it is really informative. Information is given about extended sales tax dates, state taxes, evictions and foreclosures, and good educational information.
Our food program will restart March 30, and we will again provide multiple days worth of food to our students from 11:00 to 1:00p.m. We plan to do it again on April 6th. Parents’ concerns for children with food allergies are being considered and addressed. All of these plans are subject to change depending upon state and health official guidance. My cafeteria staff was amazing with the sheer volume of meals that were served. I am very proud of them.
Today, I have a small-group meeting to continue to discuss the planning of Jennings Elementary school. We are very determined to move forward with this project for the students of Jefferson Davis Parish. We are also doing a great deal of paperwork in the initial planning phases of the Elton Elementary project.
Please continue to adhere to all safety precautions; when school resumes, we look forward to having you all back!
