Jeff Davis Parish Students Excel at 4-H University
Congratulations to two outstanding young ladies from Jefferson Davis Parish, Ms. Isabella Hardy, Lacassine High School, and Ms. Whitney Zaunbrecher, Lake Arthur High School, as they were recently selected as State Board winners as determined by a selection committee at 4-H University. The hard work these young ladies have poured in to 4-H projects, community service, and leadership development is admirable, and we are so fortunate to have had them represent Jefferson Davis Parish at the 2019 SRTLC Conference in Crossville, Tennessee, in September. The Southern Region Teen Leadership Conference is a first-of-its-kind, multi-state 4-H conference created to bring together 4-H teens and adults to empower and inspire them to make a positive change across the southern region through youth-adult partnerships. This conference brings together over 400 youth annually who share information about their state, their 4-H programs, and who work to improve their leadership and learn effective methods of developing youth-adult partnerships.
Ms. Isabella Hardy, daughter of Kevin and Sharla Hardy, was also selected to a two-year term as a Shooting Sports Ambassador for LA 4-H. She earned this honor at 4-H University after an extensive application and interview process. She has been a 4-H member at Lacassine High School, as well as the Jefferson Davis Parish Shooting Sports program for seven years. She is currently the LHS Sr. 4-H Club President. In addition, she is a member of the Jeff Davis 4-H Junior Leaders and the Jeff Davis Parish 4-H Shooting Sports Advisory Board. She has attended 4-H University at LSU for three years, competing in the Shooting Sports Triathlon, for which her team placed fifth this past summer. She has competed in cooking, personal development, and public speaking contests in previous years.
Ms. Whitney Zaunbrecher, daughter of Ronnie and Andrea Zaunbrecher, was also selected to the Louisiana State Fashion Board. She has competed at 4-H University in the State 4-H Fashion Program for the past two years, earning blue ribbons each year. This past year, she competed and won a spot on the State Fashion Board. Over the summer, she taught a sewing clinic to younger students in Jefferson Davis Parish. A four-year member of 4-H, she currently serves as President of the Lake Arthur High School Sr. 4-H Club. She has been a member of the Jeff Davis 4-H Junior Leaders for the two years and currently serves as Fundraising Chairman.
Jefferson Davis Parish is extremely proud of the accomplishments of these two talented young ladies, and we wish them continued success in all of their future endeavors.
