Art Institute of Houston.
Best Buy Community Scholarships-amount
varies. Based on good grades and community service. Established to recognize
student achievement in school and community service projects they’ve
participated in.
BK Scholars-
$1000 awarded to an employed senior. Must show proof of
employment (check stub). One award per school. Fall application deadline.

scholarship - $2,000 per year. Must major in American History

Scholarship - Awarded to children of DAR members. $1,000 per year for four
years.
3. Other DAR scholarships are
available once you are already enrolled in an accredited school for one of the
following curricula: nursing, medicine, political science, history, government,
economics, or occupational therapy.

Minority scholarships based on financial need, 3.3 GPA, 2009 first-time
freshman, Pell Grant eligible, demonstrated leadership abilities, and must
complete and submit required forms. Amount vary.

Louisiana Farm Bureau Foundation
Scholarship - Jeff Davis Parish Farm Bureau
awards a scholarship to the individual chosen to represent Jeff Davis parish for
the La. Farm Bureau Foundation Scholarship. The parish award is known as the
John Treme Scholarship in honor of the late John Treme, an agricultural leader
and supporter of youth activities in Jeff Davis parish for many years. The
parish scholarship is $300, and the winner’s name is submitted to the state
office.

Mon Frere scholarship awards -
$300-$500 awarded to a student in band OR the vocational area.

LHSAA Gatorade College Scholarship - By principal’s recommendation ONLY to financially
underprivileged student-athletes. $500.
LHSCA Scholarships -
$500. Must be a son or daughter of Louisiana High School
Coaches Association member.
*Lockworks Scholarship (Academy of
Hairdressing) - $1000. Must write a 100-word
essay. Name changed to Aveeda Institute.

*Louisiana Farm Bureau Foundation
Scholarship - GPA: 2.5. $1,000. Major in
agriculture, home economics or agriculture-related curriculum.
*Louisiana Municipal Clerks Association H.S. Scholarship
- Must seek degree in public administration, political
science, or related field. $500. GPA: 3.0 and ACT: 21.
*Louisiana Sheriff’s Scholarship Program -
$500. Anyone may apply.
Louisiana Law Enforcement and Fire Fighters-
must be a son or daughter of someone in this profession to
apply. Fall deadline. Award amount varies.
Louisiana Pest Management Association Life Sciences Scholarship-
$1000 one time payment.
30. GPA. ACT score of 23 or higher. Letter of recommendation . Essay required.
Louisiana Society of Professional Surveyors Education Foundation
- $1,000. Must pursue a career in surveying or related
field.
*Louisiana Technical School-Morgan Smith Campus-One
scholarship awarded per school. GPA 2.5 . Pays full admission and tuition.
Selection is by school committee.
*Louisiana Young Bankers Scholarship -
Major in business. GPA: 3.2 and ACT: 25. $1,000.
LSU Biological & Agricultural Engineering
Scholarship - GPA: 3.0
and ACT: 25. $500.
*LSU Chancellor’s Leadership Scholarship
- $1,000. Must be nominated by principal. GPA: 3.0 or
ACT: 25.
LSU Manship Merit Scholarship -
LSU journalism major. $3,500 per year renewable. Pays tuition, room, board,
books, and $150 per month.
*McNeese Scholarships -
Deadline December 1. See 2003-04 catalog for complete list ( Pp.
77-85). Private donor list also online. You must apply for admission to MSU to
be considered.
Monsanto and American Monsanto
and Farm Bureau’s
Commitment to Agriculture Scholarship Program - must be pursuing a related field in
agriculture, applicant’s family is actively engaged in production agriculture,
and applicant may not have a member of their immediate family employed by
American Farm Bureau Federation and its affiliates.
National Association of Secondary School
Principals Leadership Award - Must be nominated by principal.
National Association of University Women - Jeff Davis Branch
- Deadline: May 4. Must have a 2.5 GPA, 2
letters of recommendation, and a 300 word essay. (Given on a rotating basis
to high schools in
the parish)
National Beta Club Scholarship Program -
Must be an active member of National Beta Club and be
nominated by the Beta Club chapter. $1,000 to 66 winners. $10,000 to top 4
winners. ACT scores must be sent by
November 1. See Mrs. Duhon for additional information.
*National Merit Scholarship Program -
Qualifies based on PSAT score. Test given 11/2/05 at
Jennings HS. $11 fee. FOR JUNIORS ONLY.1
*Navarre Scholarship -
$1,000. Attending McNeese.
Navy-Marine Corps ROTC Scholarships

Scholarship - GPA: 3.0 and ACT: 26.
*Olin L. Livesay Scholarship -
10-state regional competition. $250 to $2,500. Based on financial need and
potential for success.
*Olive Tupper Foundation Scholarship -
Attending McNeese, financial need and GPA: 2.5. Majoring
in nursing only. Do not apply for Fritz Lang if applying for this
scholarship. They are exclusionary.
*PPG Co-Op Program for Minorities and
Women - Not a scholarship. GPA: 3.5 and ACT:
26.
Rehabilitation Funds -
For those with physical disabilities or conditions. Financial assistance, not a scholarship.
Sometimes referred to as the Sullivan. Awards depend on severity of the
disability and funding for the current year. Filling out the Student Health Form
starts the process.
Rhodes College (Memphis Tenn.) -
GPA: 2.5 and ACT: 27; Out of state school.
RiceCo LLC Scholarship -
$1,000 freshman scholarship; pursuing an ag-related
college major; 2 letters of recommendation; 250 word essay; parents are active
rice growers.
Rockefeller State Wildlife Scholarships -
Must major in forestry, wildlife, or marine science. GPA:
2.5 and $1,000 per year for up to 7 years. Apply through financial aid
application (FAFSA).
*Rotary Club Scholarship - This
scholarship is given by the Rotary Club to a deserving student based on
community service and leadership. Awarded by the Welsh, La. Chapter.
Seward
J. LeJeune Scholarship - For girls majoring in
agriculture or home economics. $250 per semester for 1 year. (This scholarship
is alternated between schools in the parish each year.)
Simon Youth Foundation- $1000
award per high school. January deadline. Get an application at Prien Lake Mall
Office; these apps. are not given out at school. Must show proof of employment
(recent check stub).
*Southern University Scholarships - $500 awarded to Jeff Davis Parish schools on a
rotating basis. GPA: 2.5. Must enroll at
Southern.
Texas A&M Academic Scholarship for Incoming Freshmen -
ACT: 30 or
Semi-finalist or commended standing in National scholarship competitions
sponsored by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation or College Board.
The Retired Officers Association -
Interest-free loans to dependent children of active or
retired military service personnel.
*Tulane University Legislative
Scholarship Program - ACT: 27.
*Toyota Community Scholars Program -
GPA: 3.0 and top 10% in class. Actively involved in a
service organization that has a positive impact on the school and/or
community. If interested, contact the counselor. Our school is invited to
identify only one student so a school appointed committee will select
the nominee from those interested.
ULL Christiana Smith Alumni Scholarship -
an African American Alumni Chapter - Must
get their counselor to nominate them, must have an ACT of 18 or better, more
than one student from each school may apply.
*ULL Freshman Scholarships -
Various awards available depending on major. GPA: 3.0
and ACT: 22 or better. You must apply
for admission to ULL to be considered.
Vietnam Veterans
- Must be a dependent of a Vietnam veteran.

Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) -
Lake Arthur chapter, last year began a scholarship for one male and one
female student interested in attending a vocational school and completing
requirements for an Associate Degree (2 years). Criteria for both Francis
E. Dyer Awards include and essay ("How LAHS has influenced my life"),
2.5 GPA, & active in extracurricualr and community activities. $500 per
award per student.
