Scholarships for Graduating Seniors
(Updated January 2009)
Dear Parents/Guardians:
I hope this will help you and your senior. If your senior is interested in applying for any of these scholarships, have them pick up an application from my office or from the place of business cited in the listing if those are the requirements for beginning that application process. More applications may have to be submitted online this year (for example, the Coca Cola scholarship), but in most cases, applications or working copies, will be available for pick up as soon as they arrive at school. Additionally, any adult can pick up available scholarship information for their teen at any time by coming to the counselor’s office.
The scholarships that show an asterisk (*) are scholarships that have been available in the past, and may still be available today. We may have to call the sponsoring agency to confirm availability for the current year. I will let students know when applications are available in the daily announcements and through their English classes. Please have your senior listen to these morning announcements which are made at the beginning of 4th period every school day. Mrs. Duhon's Senior English classes will be informed of current scholarship offerings as they become available.
Any senior planning on applying to a college should apply before the Thanksgiving holidays or before the scholarship deadline for the university of their choice. The deadline for most universities is December 1. Students may pickup applications to colleges at the Jeff Davis Career Fair in Jennings on November 2, 2007. We will be traveling by bus, and permission slips will go home early during the month of October.
If you have any questions or concerns during the year, please feel free to call me (774-5152) or come by. Together, we can help members of this senior class attain their final goals in high school and help them make plans for their future.
Sincerely,
Betty LeBlanc, Guidance Counselor
