In the year 1905, the people of Lake Arthur voted upon themselves a building tax so that a school could be built. When this school was finished in 1906, it was one of the most modern in the state. At this time, the school was upgraded.
In 1921, the brand new three story Lake Arthur school began operation. Back then there were only 11 grades. In 1947, grade 12 was added to the curriculum. In 1976, Lake Arthur High began use of new facilities located on 36 acres about 3 miles north of Lake Arthur city limits.
At the present time, the school consists of grades seven through twelve and employs a principal, an assistant principal, a guidance counselor, two secretaries, twenty-seven full time teachers, a part-time speech therapist, a part-time adapted P.E. teacher, three teacher-aides, six cafeteria technicians, four custodians, and ten bus drivers.
